Community Tragedies: The Hospice Response
Live Webinar on December 14, 2017 Noon to 1:30 PM EST

WASHINGTON, October 27 — Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) tackles the topic of community tragedy and how hospices and hospice professionals can respond. Community Tragedies: The Hospice Response will explore the impact of life-threatening disasters on our communities in recent years and ways in which we can get involved. This webinar has been added to HFA’s 2017-18 webinar package and is also available as a stand-alone program.

The 90-minute webinar will examine reasons for the need of additional training for those who work in hospice or a field related to death and dying while offering a look at crisis response phases, the role hospice plays in trauma and disaster, and much more.

Community Tragedies: The Hospice Response will be presented by Patti Anewalt, PhD, LPC, FT, Director of Pathways Center for Grief & Loss with Hospice & Community Care. The focus of Dr. Anewalt’s clinical practice, writing, and teaching is on issues related to end of life, grief, compassion fatigue and crisis response. She provides trainings for school administrators and counselors on grief, trauma, and crisis response. As a disaster mental health specialist and instructor for the American Red Cross, Dr. Anewalt serves on several community crisis teams, providing trainings, debriefings, and support when local tragedies occur.

The program will be available on demand for those unable to participate in the live program.
