OnePoint Patient Care to Support Hospice Foundation of America’s Free Ask an Expert Service
November gift acknowledges National Hospice and Palliative Care Month
WASHINGTON — OnePoint Patient Care, the nation’s premier hospice pharmacy provider, will sponsor Hospice Foundation of America’s (HFA’s) Ask an Expert service during National Hospice and Palliative Care Month in November 2024.
“We are grateful for OnePoint’s generous financial support for the third year running as our country acknowledges the many benefits of hospice and palliative care,” said Amy Tucci, president and CEO of HFA. “OnePoint’s dedication to Ask an Expert aligns with its caring mission.”
Ask an Expert is HFA’s important public service committed to educating healthcare professionals and the public about end-of-life care. Led by end-of-life care professionals, HFA’s experts answer questions within 24 hours, 365 days a year. Questions are submitted through HFA’s website or by phone (202-457-5811 or 800-854-3402). Ask an Expert is supported entirely by donations.
“Ask an Expert gives us a great opportunity to educate healthcare professionals and the public about hospice care,” said Angela Novas, MSN, RN, CRNP, ACHPN, who directs the service. “Although nearly 50 percent of the U.S. population is cared for by hospice at life’s end, there remains a great deal of misunderstanding about hospice care. With Ask an Expert, we can dispel myths and increase access to hospice. People are grateful for our free service.”
“OnePoint Patient Care is honored to support HFA’s excellent Ask an Expert series again,” said Joe Solien, PharmD, BCPP, BCGP, VP of Clinical Services. “Hospice Month is an especially appropriate time to ensure that Americans can receive thoughtful and expert answers to their end-of-life care questions. We are proud to support HFA’s important work.”
In addition to providing information about hospice care, those seeking information about grief and grieving turn to HFA for guidance through Ask an Expert.
“Bereavement care is provided by hospices nationwide,” said Kenneth J. Doka, PhD, MDiv, HFA’s senior vice president for grief education. “We connect people with hospice bereavement services and also validate the experience of grief for those who are concerned about their or a loved one’s reactions and direct them to appropriate resources.”
As a national 501(c)(3) organization, HFA works to enhance knowledge about hospice and grief, and to expand access to hospice care. Thanks to decades of donor support, HFA is able to touch the lives of tens of thousands of individuals annually through its education, outreach, and community level work.
Ninety-five cents of every dollar donated to HFA goes directly to improving hospice and bereavement care across the country and making it accessible for all.
