Thank you for making a difference.

If you believe, like we do, that hospice is indeed the “something more” that can be provided when patients and families are told there’s “nothing more that can be done," your gift honors and recognizes the important hospice philosophy of medical care.

As a national charitable organization of 40 years, HFA works tirelessly to improve hospice and grief knowledge, access, and care. We do this through education, free services for the public and hospice professionals, and research. Your donation to HFA supports hospice care nationally, without regard to geographic location.

More than 33,000 individuals turned to Hospice Foundation of America in 2020 for our free educational programs about caring for patients and families affected by COVID-19. Donors like you have made this critical work possible. With your continued support, HFA remains committed to its legacy of nearly four decades by improving end-of-life care through research, helping individuals understand and access hospice care, and educating the nurses, physicians, social workers, bereavement counselors, chaplains, volunteers, and others with vital roles on hospice teams nationwide. To donate to a specific hospice provider, please contact the hospice directly.

Thank you for your gift!

Planned Giving

A legacy gift to HFA through a bequest in your will can help you manage your personal financial plan and extend your commitment to hospice for generations. Bequests can be residual, a percentage, specific, or contingent bequest. To avoid any confusion, HFA suggests using the language below:

“I give [residual, percentage, or specific amount] to Hospice Foundation of America, Inc., having its principal offices at 1707 L Street NW, Suite 220, Washington, DC 20036, for its general purposes.” Tax ID Number: 59-2219888

Gift of Stock or Securities

Gifts of stocks are a popular alternative to making a gifts of cash gift because of the tax advantages they may provide. Not only will you receive an income tax deduction for the full market value of the securities, you may also avoid capital gains on the appreciation of your stocks. If your donated securities are used to fund a charitable trust or gift annuity, there may be estate and gift tax advantages as well.

To make such a gift, do not sell the stock and donate the proceeds, as this will jeopardize your tax benefits. Instead, notify your broker and contact us at 202-457-5811. Please be prepared to provide us with the following information: donor name, broker name and contact, name of stock(s) to be transferred, number of shares and/or approximate value, approximate date of transfer, and purpose/beneficiary for the gift.

Workplace Giving

Contributing to HFA through a monthly payroll deduction will make your gift add up! It will also provide us with the opportunity to rely on consistent funding throughout the year.

Matching Gifts – Double your gift to HFA! Ask your HR representative if your employer offers a matching gift program.

Combined Federal Campaign - HFA proudly participates in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the US Government's workplace giving campaign. If available to you, give through the CFC and your donation will add up to a significant gift. (CFC #10611).

United Way - If your employer promotes workplace giving through a United Way campaign, designate your contribution to HFA by including the following information on your designation form:
