HFA and Opus Peace Partner to Create New Program on Liberating Unmourned Loss

Press Release
Aug 23, 2017

WASHINGTON, August 23—Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) is partnering again with Opus Peace to present Liberating Unmourned Loss, the second program in the Soul Injury series. Liberating Unmourned Loss provides personal and professional guidance for those who have been effected by emotional pain, loss, and grief as it discusses how the tools of soul restoration can be incorporated into healthcare practices. The program will be available to order from HFA in November and will ship in December; continuing education credits from a variety of boards will be available beginning on January 1, 2018.

Since its premier, more than 400 locations nationwide have brought the message of Soul Injury to their workplace or larger communities. In Soul Injury, viewers learned how unmourned loss, unforgiven guilt and shame, and diminished self-compassion can cause harm to individuals, families, and society. Liberating Unmourned Loss further discusses the concept of Soul Injury by addressing the specific topics of unmourned loss and fear of emotional pain as well as strategies to create well-being through grief.

Liberating Unmourned Loss is underwritten in part by Aseracare Hospice and Bayada Home Health Care, and is be presented by Deborah Grassman, the Founder of Opus Peace. Opus Peace is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to provide programs that respond to Soul Injury. Deborah, a nurse practitioner and former Hospice Director for the Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare system, is recognized nationwide for her ground-breaking work in identifying the unique issues that affect end-of-life care for veterans and their families. She is also well-known for her books, Peace at Last and The Hero Within.

Liberating Unmourned Loss is expected to be approximately two hours in length, with one intermission and a 30-minute post-program discussion required for CEs. For more information, contact HFA at 202-457-5811 or at [email protected]
