Supporting Bereaved College Students - Self Study

When emerging adults and college students experience loss, they may have difficulty in coping with that loss. The losses they face may be the first they’ve ever experienced, whether of a family member or a friend. These young adults are often far from their normal and natural support systems, and as they strive for independence and autonomy they may be reluctant to reach out for support. School-based counselors may have limited experience with grief. In this self-study, we focus on effective strategies for supporting college students and other emerging adults.
