Chapter 10: A Voice From a Clinician

Deborah Grassman's Voices piece aptly illustrates the theme of forgiveness. Forgiveness is an issue only if it is an issue for a client. We never should impose our agenda on a patient. We do well to remember Shneidman’s (1978) dictum that “no one needs to die in a state of psychoanalytic grace” (p. 211).
