Community Tragedies: The Hospice Response Self Study

Expert Panelist: Patti Anewalt, PhD, LPC, FT and Matt Metevelis, MDiv
Available on demand
Length: 120 minutes

Community tragedies affect many who work in hospice or a field related to death and dying and cause them to wonder how they would, or should, respond if a traumatic event occurred in their community. These tragedies are becoming commonplace and perhaps you are feeling an increased obligation to be prepared so you can respond appopriately or wonder where you might obtain more training or be most helpful.
Having participated in community crises at both national and local levels, Dr. Patti Anewalt will talk about how community tragedies have influenced our society’s understanding of grief in recent years. She will address the phases of community tragedies, possible levels of involvement, as well as the reasons for and ways to obtain additional training.

Matt Metevelis, MDiv, Spiritual Care Supervisor for Nathan Adelson Hospice, will provide a special presentation on how Nathan Adelson provided community support in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Las Vegas.
