Confronting Jealousy, Guilt and, Shame in Bereavement
Live Webinar on October 17, 12PM to 1:30 PM ET
WASHINGTON, October 12 -- Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) addresses the topics of survivor’s guilt, anger, self-blame, shame, and more during its upcoming webinar,
Helping Mourners Deal with Jealousy, Guilt, and Shame in Bereavement
.
This 90-minute webinar will examine reasons behind the difficult and often undiscussed feelings of jealousy, guilt and shame and offer specific strategies, techniques, and rituals to use while supporting clients, whose mourning may be complicated or hindered by these emotions.
“Though often not named, shame and guilt powerfully shape the outcomes of our helping in grief and loss. We will explore how to constructively engage and transform these moral emotions and enlist them in the healing process,” said Dr. Dale Larson, Professor of Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University.
Dr. Larson will be featured in
Helping Mourners Deal with Jealousy, Guilt, and Shame in Bereavement
along with fellow expert Kenneth Doka, PhD, MDiv, Professor of Gerontology at the Graduate School of The College of New Rochelle and Senior Consultant to the Hospice Foundation of America.
Dr. Larson directs graduate studies in health psychology at Santa Clara University and is the author of the award-winning book,
The Helper's Journey: Working with People Facing Grief, Loss, and Life-Threatening Illness
, and was Senior Editor and a contributing author
for Finding Our Way: Living with Dying in America
. Dr. Doka is an internationally known grief expert, and a prolific author and editor who serves as editor of HFA’s bereavement newsletter,
Journeys.
The program will be available on-demand for those unable to participate in the live program.
