HFA Professional Education

HFA provides education for professional and family caregivers through several programs:

Living With Grief® Teleconference
HFA is best known for its Annual National Bereavement Teleconference. Broadcast live-via-satellite, this year's program, Living With Grief: Before and After the Death, took place on March 22, 2007. The program was shown in over 1200 sites across the country.

Moderated by Frank Sesno, Professor of Public Policy and Communication at George Mason University and Special Correspondent with CNN, Hospice Foundation of America’s 2007 teleconference explored the most current theoretical perspectives on loss and grief as experienced by persons throughout a life-limiting illness and by survivors after the death. A particular focus was paid to areas where understandings of grief have been challenged.

The teleconference provides low-cost continuing education credit to nurses, social workers, physicians, funeral directors, counselors, clergy, EMS workers and others. This program is worth three (3) continuing education hours for most professionals.

**There is a $25 online processing fee per certificate, per participant, or $35 via mail. There is a $10 charge for each additional certificate requested. (Example: If an individual participant is requesting one Alabama Nurse certificate and one Alabama Social Worker certificate online, then he/she will owe a total of $35).**

Hospice College of America and HFA have taken the award-winning HFA Living With Grief teleconference series and created home study courses for professionals. Each program is approved for three hours of continuing education.

Florida Clergy Education Project invites Florida clergy and faith leaders to participate in a free, Internet or computer-based continuing education program that will enhance their understanding of end-of-life issues and provide interventive techniques to help minister to congregants.
